Welcome to Big Boy Pride, the four-day pride event at the legendary Parliament House in Orlando, Florida for Big Brothas & the men who love them.
The big boys came from around the country and even across the globe to let it hang out by the pool, walk a ball, watch some drag shows, work out, munch on some bbq and enjoy a performance by the iconic Martha Wash!
BBP proves itself more than just a party weekend like most gay prides by promoting the importance of camaraderie through positive brotherly interactions including group discussions, health and wellness seminars, and even a Sunday service with a big boy choir.
“Big Boy Pride was created because there was a void in the community. Other prides that were actually inclusive of people of color weren’t as inclusive of guys of all sizes. The event has grown from just 89 attendees in 2011 to now close to 1000 this year”, says BBP co-founder Jay King Holiday.
While Big Boy Pride is attended mainly by men of color, all same-gender-loving men of size and those who love and support them are welcomed.
“The past 4 days have been truly amazing! I believe we had the most registrations in 8 years, along with some new events in the line up. This year we threw a Wakanda theme party for the BBP main event and it was the fulfillment of this year’s high visibility of blackness & black queerness we have seen in the media. These past few days would be best described as energetic & jovial.” says Anthony – BBP Director of Hospitality.
We were proud to be apart of the Big Boy Pride Ball which was live streamed & recapped on our Instagram. The boys got their TENz for Vogue performance, Sneaker vs. Sneaker, Realness, Best Beard & more.
In addition to the annual main event in April, BBP offers series of mini pop up events around in major cities, which allows new big boys to get a feel for the event & meet return attendees.
