Interview Tommy Jo Spain

What was the 1st beat you ever heard played & where?
The first beat I ever heard was in the dance group Pretty Kitties dance mix in 2006. It was The Witch Doctor and The Ha Dance Original version in one mix. It sounded so OVAH and had me open.
What would you say is your signature beat?
A signature beat I made would be The Muck Ha because everyone loves that beat during a hot battle for performance but when I drop my EP I think they’ll remember me for this one as well.
Favorite crash or ha?
Hands down The Star Wars Vader beat by Capital Kaos. That beat makes me wanna come from behind the decks and bust a NASTY catwalk.
Most unique place you have played?
The 2017 Black Party in NYC. Enough said.
Do you think the Ballroom sound is effecting the club sound?
Definitely! I knew it was effecting the club sound when I heard beats being play on Hot 97 during a Jersey Club set. I think anyone who is into music can see that ballroom is effecting club music. You can’t even go to a club in NYC without hearing a crash or cunty reference and I love that.
You were apart of Qweenbeat’s compilation album Qweendom. What was that experience like?
Fun. Stressful. Exciting. Draining. For me personally, a challenge that I stepped up to and succeeded in. Being on a project with so many great and talented people I feel I had to step it up a notch. I loved it all in the end.
Where can we catch next?
I will be hosting The Vogue Workout part 5 Live at the Sex Museum, which for me is huge because I’ve been sitting on this plan for 3 years.
