Superfine: Tailoring Black Style (In the LGBT Lens)

The Butch Queen & Butch nostalgia better carry at MET Gala 2025 in the name of Superfine: Tailoring Black Style!
The exhibit will explore the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day. As we know, Black queer folk have been global trendsetters in style, fashion, and language for decades!
The exhibit will be the first since 2003 that is focused solely on menswear, and stars like Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, and Lewis Hamilton will support the event by acting as Met Gala co-chairs.
The show is inspired by the work of Monica Miller, a professor and chair of Africana Studies at Barnard College, and her book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
