IMPULSE GROUP NEW YORK 1st ANNUAL PARTY WITH A PURPOSE CELEBRATES 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
AN EPIC EXPERIENCE FULL OF MILESTONES FOR THE NYC GAY COMMUNITY
Impulse Group New York first annual Party With a Purpose (P2): TRANSCEND, Saturday, December 7, 2019, held at the Glasshouse Chelsea, celebrated the chapter’s 5-Year anniversary and World AIDS Day 2019. In addition, Party With a Purpose was a fundraiser, which generated $5,000 through ticket sells and in-kind donations to benefit the AIDS Center of Queens County (ACQC) and Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA). Each nonprofit charity received $2,500 to further their advocacy campaigns within the LBGTQ+ community. Impulse Group NYC President John Gibson stated, “For the past 5 years, NYC’s gay community has known Impulse Group primarily for hosting fun social events with cocktails, sexy go-go boys and non-judgmental discussions around sex and HIV. Party with a Purpose was our statement for 2020 and beyond. It was an experience to show that we are dedicated to elevating the work we’ve previously done, and are determined to reach new heights when it comes to the wellness of our community: mental, physical and emotional wellness.”
Event highlights included a VIP reception, live musical entertainment, award ceremony and interactive activations focused on the 7 charkas. New York City Drag Queen Lagoona Bloo served as the Mistress of Ceremonies, while celebrity Drag Queen Trinity K. Bonet (RuPaul’s Drag Race) wowed the crowd with her musical selections. Music headliner SHAED’s lead band member Max Ernest shared his heart-warming coming out gay story during their performance set. The Impulsify Award Show honorees included, the Community Member of the Year (Anthony Curry), Community Partner of the Year (Boxers NYC), and Trailblazer of the Year Billy Porter (Pose).
