Legendary is television’s first reality competitions series focusing on the ballroom scene. The HBO Max series features eight houses competing in a variety of categories including performance, sex siren, face and other staples from the scene. Each House of five will compete across nine themed balls, which will ultimately lead to the crowing of one “superior house” and a grand cash prize of $100,000.
Each week we will chat with a member of the eliminated house and share a curated video playlist of their favorite ballroom clips.
This week we welcome Legendary Father Lil James West!
This week we saw your journey on Legendary come to an end. What was your favorite memory from this experience?
My favorite memory from being on Legendary was when we did the shoot in the basement in the black and white, the neon paint and the glow effects were EVERYTHING. I love how the cast motivated us and made us feel really good while critiquing us.
Which judge gave the most stern critiques?
Leiomy, she was very honest and she told us what she expected. I loved that because it gave us the push to challenge ourselves and bring it hard!
What was the most difficult challenge in the competition?
I would say the “One upon a time challenge was the hardest because none of us walked those categories so it was the moment to test ourselves and try something different. Ballroom is a fairy tale world so trying to be someone you’re not or trying something different is totally okay.
What is one misconception about Ballroom you would like to clarify with viewers?
Ballroom is not a drama filled place; ballroom has amazing factors that have helped many become successful in our lives and far beyond ballroom.
What has been your favorite ballroom experience or battle?
My favorite ballroom experience is being able to open my own house and watch it blossom more and more as time goes on.
What are some of the responsibilities of being a house parent?
The responsibilities of being a house parent is making sure that your kids are okay and intact. Always keeping their confidence up and giving the proper tools to be able to stand in front of judges that isn’t going to cut them any clack. Helping them get the strength to make it without you.
How can fans of the show keep up with you?
I don’t like to call people fans, however if anyone who supports me or simply enjoy me they can follow me on my Instagram (Jamespleez), my Twitter (@Jamezsey) or my Snapchat, which is also Jamespleez.
