$UBSCRIBE – THE NEW DIGITAL SEX ECONOMY: DaddyLuLask

While they may not be mainstream topics of conversation or household names just yet, subscription websites like OnlyFans.com are becoming more and more familiar to LGBTQ communities throughout the world. As early as the internet existed, the monetization of sex work online has proliferated, from early porn download sites to more contemporary video sharing and modern webcam services. Selling subscription services that allow users to view videos or the watch live webcam feeds of professional or amateur sex workers has indeed flourished online for years already. So while OnlyFans and similar websites are not particularly new in concept, they perhaps offer a more user friendly and trendy vehicle for a particular type of sex work, allowing a wider group of people to use the site as content creators and consumers. Here in the US, gay men and trans women seem to be driving the growth of these apps as the landscape of sex work is changing and cultural attitudes within queer communities are shifting and evolving. In particular, OnlyFans and sites like it appear to be emerging as a path for LGBTQ sex workers of color to potentially completely revolutionize not only the nature of their sex work but also to reap unprecedented financial rewards.

Why did you decide to create an OnlyFans account?
At a few points before my OnlyFans  I was just taking nudes or semi nudes an just uploading them on twitter/insta for free. Someone close to me said “why expose so much of yourself and be doing it for free, instead of using the platform you have now to better your financial situation” within a couple days, I listened.
Were you doing any other type of sex work before (escorting, porn, cam, etc)?
Other then the occasional selling of feet pics I was a stripper here in Chicago for 6 months.
With regard to sex work, do you feel that using OnlyFans offers you more personal safety than relying on escorting or having to meet clients in person?
Well I have never escorted or done sex work. OnlyFans offers you a work environment you create. You set the tone. You decide if you wanna work from your couch, bed, or even your car. The only “clients” we might have are the collabs we decide on through communication.
Were you concerned about being “exposed” or the social/cultural stigma associated with sex work/pornography?
Well previous to my OnlyFans both my twitter and instagram had over 20k and forums were running blogs trying to get my nudes through my other followers. making an OF was my own way of saying what will and won’t be allowed on the internet of me. A weak mind and the fear of judgement Won’t pay my bills, so no im not worried.
How do you market & promote your account?
I usually will post “teaser” pics such as me in my sweats at the house. A photo of me an the person I collabed with at my crib. i like my “teasers” to be super organic and nothing forced. I refuse to put my whole penis or butthole out for free. That isn’t smart marketing for me.
About how many monthly subscribers do you have?
Currently I have 550, something close to that forsure. and In the top 2%.

How frequent do you post?
Usually every two days…But I try to take a teaser or at least a nude everyday but even then that isn’t easy cause A man likes to eat. Me personally i want quality for my “fans”.
How has having your OnlyFans account changed your financial situation?
I went from a 400 dollar check every two weeks, barely staying a float in a retail based environment. to no longer needing that job and focusing solely on my degree In criminal justice and making content. I have had my OnlyFans for less then two months, An have been able to save more then I have in my 22 years of living, god bless.
Has having an OnlyFans account affected your dating life? Relationships? Friendships? Has it changed how you personally view sex/sex acts/sexuality for yourself?
Making an OnlyFans does make others look at you different. All my friends don’t care or mind my line of work, an If they did then they shouldn’t even be my friend. I pay my bills not them. I have not tried for a relationship with a man or women yet, but of course selling photos and videos of your body isn’t top tier for someone looking for a significant other. which will be taken into account when I do want a little boo or what not. My family sees the link in my bio and they don’t ask questions, so for that im grateful. 100%  my view on sex has changed. I no longer feel the need for random hookups unless it is for creating content or with someone I want to know on a deeper level…and what used to get me off changes everyday due to OF.
Do you think an OnlyFans account is more worth it/better than a more traditional career in pornography with a studio?
I can’t speak on anyone else’s line of work in the world of sex. I only know about mine. It works for me cause it’s my own platform and My nudes aren’t just a google search then boom. Porn is just a one time pay out through studios an personally i like my daily checks.
Do you see yourself continuing to use OnlyFans for the foreseeable future or is it something more for the short term?
Until I am done with school and decide to use my degree, or an amazing person comes into my life who deserves all of my body without sharing. I’ll continue to use it until I can’t.
Do you have any other general observations about your experience using OnlyFans?
Thankful for what has come from it, lost nobody I needed and gained people I did. for that Im thankful.
